davis shizzle

first, i saw that neuroth post as well, first time visiting the sd track board in ages....you may remember the time at big bear camp when neuroth was fit and doing 2000 abs a day according to conover or whoever.

lonac update: new school plan is graduate in 4 years, get a master's in nutrition my 5th year at davis while finishing out my running eligibility, then move to colorado and get my master's in exercise physiology while marathon training.
running is going quite well, i'm as close to healthy as i've been in college, last 3 weeks were 69, 53 (planned recovery week), and 68. i will be keeping the mileage in the 60-70 range for awhile. ran a 5 mile tempo on tuesday at 5:22 pace. ran a 8 mile tempo with the entire team today, starting with some 6's and cutting down to 5:40 for miles 5,6, 7 and around 5:25 for the last mile.
our house is busy, with some roommate switches, clearing out old shit, bringing in new sofas, housing 2 freshmen on the team, hiding cats for friends so the landlord doesn't see them, etc.

dj will be happy to hear i'm going to a dragonforce show sept 9 at the warfield in san francisco. also a tool concert sept 2 at sleep train outside of sac.

Back in San Diego for the week

Hey fellows, I just got back into San Diego on Friday night. I'm staying until Thursday night (8/31) before I go back for xc camp/school. I just spent the past week in Connecticut visiting my gf, and her parents didn't allow us to sleep in the same room. One night I was in her room talking with her, with the lights on and the door all the way open, and her mom walks by looking really startled. The next day she says to Caroline "don't have sex in this house." That kinda annoyed her, and it kinda annoyed me too. I also took a day trip to New York City and visited my sister, who moved to Connecticut recently.

I finished up my internship in Minneapolis, and my boss said they were considering firing me for the last half of it. Oh well, at least I got paid and learned how to use the copy machine and make dinner for myself.

My running was going pretty well until two weeks ago. I was running consistently in the 40s, but some injuries flared up and I'm down in to the 30s for right now. I've kept the volume kinda low all summer to keep the injuries from flaring up like they just did. I'm still having fun, and I'm one of 2 captains of the xc team and one of 6 captains (way too many but whatever) for the track team. I'm also the most senior member of the student government budget committee and the Student Athlete Advisory Council, so I pretty much own Carleton and all the hot babes (which we don't really have at Carleton).

So, in sum, I'm doing fine and hope you are all doing great.

Wadddddddup THUGS!

Good to see some more action going onto the blog. I'm bored as hell back at home now that everyone has bounced out. This week I'm going for the big 60 miles, and then 70 miles next week. I got my ass handed to me running with Ryan, but now I've been running with Yuh-Kun and we've been chilling. We did some crazy dank running today, busting some mad gaps and huge airs. Then he tried cooking lunch, but it was the nastiest shit I'd ever seen...it was like lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and eggs....all like one big soup.
I'm going to hit up practice on Monday to talk to El Thorne. I guess they're having a time trial on August 26th, so if anyone is going to be around, you should go and wreck it...show these 12 year olds what TPDC is about. I was thinking about it today...most of these kids don't know what it was like when we really really sucked...getting like 14th or whatever at CIF, and then earning our way up to 1st. That's what it's alllllll about.
Anyways, I should kick rocks. I think a lot of people are training for some random races, not just the guys that are running for teams. Let me know what/when people are going to be racing.

THOMOSON IS A STONER

So we made some weed chocolate chip cookies, and went to meet some of my roomates friends at their house. There was this guy named brett who lived in the house, and he looked realy familiar. Eventually he recognized who I was, and I was like o shit you went to RB you're Brett Thomoson. He said he ran freshman year on UCSB XC but it was way to many miles and killed his legs, he does not really run at all now, he says, but he smokes a shit load man. He is a huge stoner. He is supper chill though, we played volley ball and over the line together, he asked about Ryan. Yeah, and his voice is not as high any more.

races

i ran wharf to wharf 6 mile on july 23rd and ran really well, 31:52 (5:19's).
then my coach told me to run this 10k this past sunday and i didn't run that well, 33:54 (5:28's).
luckily i think i still made the team, but i am not sure yet.
it's pretty gone cause 12 guys are on scholarship, including 4 freshmen who have never run for davis before, and our roster size is 15, so that means only 3 spots were available for whoever else wanted to be on cross, which was like 15 guys, but my coach only considered about 5 or 6 for those three spots, but still it sucks.

Classic Runners

I ran the 5K at the San Francisco Marathon this weekend...Dan was there to hang out as well. I did a workout to run 16:35. At the registration booth, much to our surprise, we saw superstars Lorin Scott and Halle Berry. They didn't run very fast...not too big of a surprise for you know who. Julia Stamps won the Women's marathon, if you kids know who she is. That afternoon, I went shopping in San Francisco...and again saw Ms. Barre, this time shopping. I guess the race didn't take too much out of her.
I should be back home in a couple weeks, so let me know if any of you are going to be around.
