season done

so my xc season ended this week due to an unfortunate hamstring injury. had it occurred a month ago it would not have been season ending, but our key meet is in two weeks, only 8 guys go, and i couldn't race yesterday so that means i can't go in 2 weeks.

so i'm stopping for 2 weeks, then will resume cross training and light running, build the mileage hopefully to 70-75 for the winter, and hopefully run low 15's in track for the 5k.

Robbienox Race Report

So Tye asked awhile ago for everyone's race report this season. Here's mine:

Preface-Robert has sustained two injuries causing him to miss part or all of the 2005 and 2006 indoor and outdoor track season. His fitness is not what it was in 2003-2004...so far...

September 9, 2006: Men's Opener, Upper Cowling Arboretum, Carleton College. 28:27, 22/45, 10th on team. Hilly course, ideal weather conditions. Course PR: 27:28, 2004.

September 23, 2006: Roy Griak Invitational-Men's Maroon, Les Bolstad Golf Course, University of Minnesota. 28:47, 244/500, 11th on team. Hilly course, extremely muddy. Course PR: 27:55, 2003.

October 7, 2006: St. Olaf Pre-Region, St. Olaf College. Did not compete due to mid week achilles pain, scratched after 1 mile of warmup. Course PR: 29:07, 2004.

October 14, 2006: University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational, Lake Breeze Golf Course, Winneconne, WI. 27:40, 201/318, 11th on team. Very flat course, windy, good temperature. Course/Overall PR: 26:50, 2004.

I also saw Taylor Penrod at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. We chatted.

Stanford Thugs

Waddup guys.

Last weekend I went to Stanford Invite to make sure TPseXC or whatever is almost as good as TPDC. They have some new shirts (Little Dworsky apparently made up the slogan): We run like we are... ...long and hard. That was pretty good. Too bad they didn't race well. I think the guys were like 20th or something. Beat by RBV. The girls did ok, like 2nd or something.
It was good talking to Thorne...he was even sprinting around to see people run under the tunnel. The changed the course from when we ran it. You don't go up the big hill but do something else weird instead. There were a couple good surprises there. The family Thorne was there (his wife and Colin - I guess no littlest Thorne). So that was cool seeing them. Surprise number 2 was Tina Betry. She has super black hair and fingernails and other crazy goth stuff, but she seemed pretty Tina per usual. Final surprise (some of you younger ones might not know this one): Julie K. WOW! That was quite a shock, considering that she has even finished her college career. It was good talking to her though, so I didn't feel like the only old timer there.
One of my friends from the team (not Tooz) killed it pretty hard in the 4k. He was, however, beaten by Kevin Bickham who runs pretty damn fast now, compared to how he was running in high school. Stanford lets like anyone run there. Oh well, at least I've still got another year of eligibility coming up.

On Sunday I did some random Run for Peace in Berkeley. I cruised a 16:32 for a 2 minute margin of victory. That was pretty fun. I won some gift certificates for some restaurants. I'm all about racing for the money and the ladies now. I'm in some pretty off-season style training right now, but hopefully I'll start throwing down the big mileage and have a real track season.

Anyways, it's good to see that you guys have been racing well. Keep it up. Hope school is going well for all y'all and I'm looking forward to kickin' it with you fellahs when Thanksgiving or Winter Break roll around.

graddy i have seen your facebook and you are single which means you need to be hitting up brooke. i really wished she came to davis instead of brown, but you should get on that!
congrats on a good race...what's that course like, all i've seen of it is the footage of 12k usxc nats, where ryan hall threw down...looks like rolling dirt hills and some grass?

good old school action with kloos and christ and such.
